2000: First major tour of Scotland playing ten dates across the country in a variety of festivals and venues, including the Isle of Bute Folk Festival, The Flipside Music Festival in Edinburgh, the Star Folk Club and King Tuts in Glasgow. |
2001: Took a breather before recording a third CD, Common Ground, at Watercolour Music in Ardgour on The Morvern Peninsula. The CD was launched in the november in the evocative surroundings of Glasgow's Piping Centre. |
2002: Embarked on an extensive tour to support Common Ground beginning on the 30th of March 2002 as part of the Scottish International Open Poetry competition held at the Irvine Burns Club. This tour saw him travel throughout Scotland, taking in a variety of places such as Ullapool, Eigg, Fort William, Skye and Dingwall. It included showcase appearances at venues such as The Lemon Tree in Aberdeen, East Kilbride Arts Centre and the Tron Theatre in Glasgow, at the Acoustic Affair. He also compered the main concert at the Arran Festival in June and ended the tour at a festival in Northern Germany in September. |
2003: Further touring, around Scotland and starting to play more in England adding new venues to the circuit all the time. Highlights included a duo performance with Gerry Cambridge as part of 'The Acoustic Affair' at the Tron theatre and at The Baltic Arts Centre in Newcastle, gigs at Hootananny's and The Market Bar in Inverness, The Lemon Tree in Aberdeen, The Glenelg Inn, The Shorepoets Society and 'The Festival of the Sea' in Edinburgh and Denholm Folk club in the borders. |
2004: Appeared with Gerry Cambridge at Celtic Connections in the newly refurbished Britannia Music Hall on Argyll St supporting Scottish Traditional Musician winner Gillian Frame on 20th January, ( see Glasgow Herald review ). A new CD will be recorded at Watercolour Music in the autumn and a further tour will be organised to coincide. The new CD features songs combining Gerry's poems and traditional scot's poems with Neil's music. |
